For suspected pulmonary tuberculosis:

X-ray of the thorax in tuberculosis is generally the initial choice of investigation.^[1]
CT of the thorax is feasible if:

There is also suspicion of extrapulmonary tuberculosis, such as gastrointestinal or urogenital tuberculosis.^[1]
Clinical suspicion remains after a normal X-ray.^[2]
