Diseases

Spondylolisthesis

Grade III anterolisthesis at the L5-S1 level.

Spondylolisthesis includes anterolisthesis (anterior displacement of a vertebra over the vertebra inferior to it (or the sacrum).) and retrolisthesis (posterior displacement).[note 1]

Anterolisthesis is classified by degree of the slippage, as measured as percentage of the width of the vertebral body:[1]

  • Grade I: 0-25%
  • Grade II: 25- 50%
  • Grade III: 50-75%
  • Grade IV: 75-100%
  • Grade V: greater than 100%

Notes

  1. Spondylolisthesis is sometimes defined as anterior displacement specifically, see for example Spondylolisthesis terminology in Wikipedia for details.
