Choice of investigation
In a first-ever unprovoked seizure in adults, MRI of the head is generally the first investigation of choice because of its high sensitivity. However, if MRI is not readily available then initial imaging with head CT is reasonable. If such CT is normal, MRI should still be considered if seizures recur or in the presence of focal electroencephalography (EEG) abnormalities.[1]
